Installation & Setup Issues​

Can't Find Add-on in Google Forms​

Symptoms: Add-on menu doesn't show MagicGPT Quiz Builder for Forms

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the Google Form page
  2. Clear browser cache and cookies
  3. Try a different browser
  4. Re-install the add-on
  5. Check if add-on is enabled in Google Workspace Admin (if using org account)

Add-on Won't Install​

Possible Causes:

  • Organization restrictions
  • Browser extensions blocking
  • Temporary Google service issue

Solutions:

  1. Check with IT admin if using work/school account
  2. Disable ad blockers temporarily
  3. Try incognito/private window
  4. Wait 1 hour and try again
  5. Contact support with error message

Permissions Issues​

Symptoms: Add-on asks for permissions again or won't authorize

Solutions:

  1. Revoke permissions at myaccount.google.com/permissions
  2. Re-install add-on
  3. Grant all requested permissions
  4. Ensure you're using correct Google account
  5. Try different browser if persists

Free Trial Issues​

Trial Counter Not Working​

Symptoms: Still shows 3 trials after generating quiz

Possible Causes:

  • Generation failed (didn't count)
  • Browser cache issue
  • Account sync problem

Solutions:

  1. Close and reopen the sidebar
  2. Refresh the form
  3. Check if questions were actually added
  4. If generation failed, it shouldn't count against trial

Used All Trials But Still Need to Test​

Symptoms: Want to test more but used 3 trials

Solutions:

  1. Review the questions from your trials to evaluate quality
  2. Purchase lifetime license to continue
  3. Contact support if you experienced technical issues during trials

Generation Issues​

"Please Set API Key" After Purchase​

Symptoms: Purchased license but asked for API key

Explanation: This is expected behavior

Solution:

  1. Get OpenAI API key from platform.openai.com
  2. Open Settings in add-on
  3. Enter your API key
  4. Save and try generating again
  5. See API Configuration for detailed guide

Generation Takes Too Long​

For AI Generation:

  • Normal: 10-30 seconds
  • If >1 minute: Refresh and try again
  • Check internet connection
  • Try simpler prompt

For Image to Quiz:

  • Normal: 15-45 seconds
  • Large images take longer
  • Complex images take longer
  • If >2 minutes: Cancel and retry

For PDF to Quiz:

  • Normal: 30-90 seconds for 1-5 pages
  • Large PDFs can take several minutes
  • If stuck >5 minutes: Try smaller PDF
  • Split large PDFs into smaller sections

Generation Fails / Error Message​

Common Errors:

"Invalid API Key"

  • Copy API key again (no spaces)
  • Verify key at platform.openai.com
  • Create new key if needed
  • See API Configuration

"Insufficient Credits"

  • Add payment method to OpenAI account
  • Check billing at platform.openai.com
  • Add credits if needed

"Request Failed"

  • Check internet connection
  • Try again in a few minutes
  • Verify OpenAI service status
  • Contact support if persists

"Rate Limit Exceeded"

  • Wait 1-2 minutes
  • Try again
  • Don't generate multiple quizzes simultaneously

No Questions Added to Form​

Possible Causes:

  • Generation actually failed (check for error)
  • PDF/Image had no readable content
  • Prompt was unclear
  • Technical issue

Solutions:

  1. Check for error messages
  2. Verify input (clear image, valid PDF, specific prompt)
  3. Try different input
  4. Contact support with details

Quality Issues​

Questions Don't Make Sense​

For AI Generation:

  • Make prompt more specific
  • Include context and details
  • Specify difficulty level
  • Try different model (GPT-5 for best quality)

For Image/PDF:

  • Ensure source material is clear
  • Check if text was readable
  • Try higher quality image
  • Use smaller PDF sections

Questions Too Easy / Too Hard​

Solutions:

  • Specify difficulty in AI prompt
  • Manually adjust difficulty after generation
  • Use different source materials
  • Generate multiple batches and select best

Wrong Answers Marked as Correct​

Cause: AI error or unclear source material

Solution:

  • Always review generated questions
  • Verify correct answers manually
  • Edit as needed in Google Forms
  • Report persistent issues to support

License & Payment Issues​

Purchase Didn't Activate License​

Symptoms: Paid but still shows trial

Solutions:

  1. Check email for license key
  2. Open add-on → Activate License
  3. Enter license key from email
  4. Wait 1-2 minutes for activation
  5. Refresh if needed
  6. Contact support with order number if still not working

Can't Find License Key​

Solutions:

  1. Check email (including spam folder)
  2. Search for emails from LemonSqueezy
  3. Check purchase confirmation

License Key Not Working​

Possible Causes:

  • Typo in key
  • Used on too many accounts
  • Invalid key

  1. Copy-paste key carefully (no spaces)
  2. Ensure using correct Google account

Model & Settings Issues​

Can't Access GPT-5​

Cause: OpenAI account tier or availability

Solutions:

  1. Check OpenAI account status
  2. Request GPT-5 access at platform.openai.com
  3. Use GPT-4o instead (excellent quality)
  4. Contact OpenAI support for access

Settings Won't Save​

Possible Causes:

  • Browser issue
  • Form permissions
  • Cache problem

Solutions:

  1. Refresh form
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Try different browser
  4. Re-install add-on if persists

Performance Issues​

Add-on Loads Slowly​

Solutions:

  1. Check internet connection speed

  • PDF Size: Large PDFs (10+ pages) may timeout
  • Image Quality: Low-quality images may not work well
  • Complex Math: Very complex equations may not convert perfectly
  • Languages: Best support for English
  • Handwriting: Variable results with handwritten content

Workarounds​

  • Split large PDFs into smaller sections
  • Use high-quality, clear images
  • Manually adjust complex mathematical notations
  • Use typed content when possible
  • Edit generated questions as needed

Common Questions​

Why does my trial count show incorrectly?​

Trial count updates after successful generation. If generation failed, it shouldn't count.

Can I get a refund on the license?​

Due to instant digital delivery, refunds are limited. Contact support to discuss specific issues.

Why do I need my own OpenAI API key?​

This gives you full control over costs, privacy, and usage. We don't charge markup on generation costs.

How often should I update my API key?​

Only when needed (compromised, lost, or expired). Keys don't expire automatically.

Can I use this offline?​

No, the add-on requires internet connection to function.
