Writing Effective Prompts

The quality of generated questions depends on your prompt. Follow these guidelines:

Be Specific

Bad: "Create questions about science"

Good: "Create 5 multiple choice questions about photosynthesis for high school biology students"

Include Key Details

  • Number of questions: "Create 5 questions" or "Generate 10 questions"
  • Subject/Topic: "about the American Revolution" or "covering cell structure"
  • Difficulty level: "for beginners", "intermediate level", "advanced"
  • Target audience: "for 5th graders", "for college students", "for professionals"

Example Prompts

Elementary Education

Create 5 easy multiple choice questions about addition and
subtraction for 2nd grade students.

High School

Generate 8 multiple choice questions about Shakespeare's Romeo
and Juliet for 10th grade English students. Include questions
about themes, characters, and plot.

chemistry reactions for undergraduate chemistry students.

Professional Training

Generate 7 multiple choice questions about workplace safety
regulations for new employees.

Test Preparation

geometry, and data analysis.

Question Types

AI works best with multiple choice questions:

  • Clear correct answer
  • Plausible distractors (wrong answers)
  • Well-formatted options

Example prompt:

Create 5 multiple choice questions about World War II, each
with 4 answer options.

Other Types

You can request other question types in your prompt:

  • True/False questions
  • Short answer questions
  • Fill in the blank

Example:

Create 3 true/false questions and 3 short answer questions
about the water cycle.

Advanced Techniques

Specify Difficulty Distribution

Create 10 questions about calculus: 3 easy, 4 medium, 3 hard

Focus on Specific Topics

Create 5 questions focusing only on the causes of the Civil War,
not the battles or outcomes.

Include Question Context

Create 5 questions about Python programming. Each question should
include a code snippet that students need to analyze.

Request Specific Format

Create 5 questions about marketing. Each question should test
application of concepts, not just memorization.
